Fix logged time: edit, trim, move or change the date

Logged too much, picked the wrong task, or saved time on the wrong day? You can fix an entry after it's saved. This article explains the options and when a change needs approval.

Open the entry

  1. Open the task and scroll to the Time Entries section.
  2. Find the entry. You can change your own entries; managers can change anyone's.
  3. Click the adjust button (two arrows) on the entry.

Choose what to do

The window asks What do you want to do? The options depend on your workspace.

If your workspace has time-entry adjustment requests turned on, you get four options:

  • Edit entry — change the hours (up or down), the date, the time range or the note. It opens with the current values filled in.
  • Trim minutes — remove some time from this entry only.
  • Move to another task — move some or all of the time to a different task or subtask. Search by name or ID.
  • Change date — keep the time on the same task but record it on a different day. You can re-date all of it or just part, and set a new time range.

If adjustment requests are off, you get Edit entry and Move to another task, and changes apply right away.

For Trim minutes, Move to another task and Change date, the amount field has All, ½ and ¼ quick-fill buttons. You can't take away more time than the entry has.

Add an optional Reason, then click the button at the bottom.

Does it need approval?

The bottom button tells you what will happen:

  • Submit for approval — your change goes to an approver. Nothing changes until they approve it.
  • Apply adjustment — the change applies right away. Managers see this, and so do members for any action the workspace doesn't require approval for.
  • Save changes or Move time — shown when adjustment requests are off; the change applies right away.

Once a change is approved, the entry's hours and its start and end times update to match.

If an entry already has a request waiting, you may need to wait until it's reviewed before you can edit it again.

Follow your requests

Open My Tasks & Requests and click Your Adjustments. You'll see every change you've asked for, with its status (Pending, Approved, Rejected or Cancelled) and any reason from the reviewer. You can Cancel request while it's still pending.

Each entry also shows a small icon for how it was captured: timer, manual, timesheet or moved.
