Roles: owner, admin, manager and member
This article explains the four roles in a TaskFlow workspace, what each one can do, and how to change someone's role.
Roles are set per workspace. You can be a manager in one workspace and a member in another.
The four roles
Owner – the person who created the workspace (or was made owner later). The owner can do everything an admin can, plus transfer ownership and delete the workspace. The owner can't be removed from the workspace.
Admin – runs the workspace. Admins invite and remove people, change roles, and edit every workspace setting.
Manager – approves work. Manager is a switch that an owner or admin turns on for a person, on top of their role. Managers review and approve task requests and time requests, create and assign tasks directly, and see the Team page. They can also change the workspace's feature and approval settings, but not its members, branding or deletion.
Member – does the work. Members request tasks, work on the tasks assigned to them, comment, and track their own time. When a member edits an approved task, or deletes or archives one, the change goes to a manager for approval.

Owners and admins aren't automatically approvers
Being an owner or admin doesn't make you a manager. If you need to approve requests, turn on your own Manager switch. Your workspace can also name specific approvers for each kind of request. See Who approves what.
Watchers
A Watcher keeps their role and access but isn't offered as an assignee or counted in team stats.
Change someone's role
You need to be an owner or admin.
- Click Workspace in the sidebar and open the Members tab.
- In the person's row, change Role to Admin or Member.
- Turn the Manager or Watcher switch on or off as needed.
To hand the workspace to someone else, the owner clicks Transfer Ownership.
The Members tab with one row's Role dropdown open and the Manager switch turned on.
What changes when your role changes
Your sidebar changes to match. Managers see Tasks & Approvals and Team; owners, admins and managers see Workspace; members see My Tasks & Requests. See A tour of the sidebar and My Work.
