Forgot to stop the timer?
It happens to everyone: you leave a timer running overnight or close your laptop and walk away. TaskFlow catches these long timers so they don't fill your timesheet with hours you didn't work. Here's what happens and how to fix it.
You stop a very long timer yourself
If you stop a timer that has run for more than 12 hours, TaskFlow asks That's a long timer before saving anything. It shows how long the timer ran and where the entry would land on your timesheet.
- Under Actual time worked, type how long you really worked, for example
2h 30m. - Click Log this time.
You can also choose Keep running to leave the timer alone, or Log full … if you really did work the whole time.
The same question appears if you start a timer on another task while a very long one is still running.
The "That's a long timer" window with the Actual time worked field and the Log this time, Keep running and Log full buttons.
TaskFlow stopped it for you
If your timer keeps running with no activity for a long time (for example, you closed the browser), TaskFlow stops it on its own. You get a notification called Timer stopped (left running).
TaskFlow can only count time up to the last moment it saw your timer was active, so the hours it captured are a best guess. They are not added to your timesheet yet. Instead, they wait for you:
- Open the notification, or go to My Tasks & Requests and click Your Adjustments.
- Find the timer entry. Type how long you actually worked.
- Click Log it now.
If the hours fit within the task's approved hours, they are logged straight away, with no approval needed. If not, TaskFlow tells you why, and the time waits for an approver.
On Urgent tasks the time is logged right away. Check the duration on the task and fix it if it's wrong.
A timer has been paused for a long time
A paused timer doesn't count time, but it still holds the time tracked before the pause. If a timer stays paused for a long time, you get a Timer still paused reminder. Open it and stop the timer to save the time, or discard it if it wasn't real work.
You already saved the wrong amount
If the wrong time is already on your timesheet, open the task, find the entry in Time Entries, and use Edit entry or Trim minutes. See Fix logged time.
