Task details: everything on one page
Every task has a details page that brings together its description, hours, subtasks, files, comments and history. This article walks you through the page and shows you how to make changes.
Open a task
- In a list, on the Kanban Board or in My Work, click a task. A panel opens on the right so you can read it without leaving the page. Click the Open full page button at the top of the panel to see everything.
- In My Tasks & Requests (or Tasks & Approvals for managers), click a task to open its full page.
At the top of the full page you can Duplicate the task (TaskFlow creates a copy called "Copy of …"), Export it, or move to the Previous or Next task.
The top of a task details page, showing the badges, the task title with its buttons, and the status buttons.
The top of the page
- Badges: the priority (if it's urgent), the task type, the status, and a repeat badge for repeating tasks.
- Title: with the task ID in front, if your space uses task IDs.
- Buttons next to the title: the star adds the task to your Favorites, the lock opens Privacy, then come the timer, manual time entry and the pencil to edit the task.
- Status buttons: such as Start Work and Mark Complete. See Task statuses.
- Tags, the Description, and the Justification if the requester gave one.
Hours and subtasks
A row of figures shows the hours: Main Task, Subtasks, Total Requested, Approved Hours and Time Logged, with how much time is left or how far over you are.
Below it, the Subtasks & Assignments table lists the main task and each subtask, with its due date, the hours requested, approved and logged, and who it's assigned to. See Subtasks and assignees.
Further down the page
- Checklists: simple to-do lists inside the task. See Checklists and checklist items.
- Attachments: files on the task. You can upload files or add them from Google Drive.
- Activity & Change History: everything that has happened to the task, and when.
- Custom Fields: extra details your workspace tracks. See Custom fields.
- Linked Documents: docs connected to the task.
- Time Entries: the time logged on the task.
- Comments: the conversation about the task. See Comments, mentions and attachments.
Some sections appear only when they have something to show, such as Dependencies, Relationships and Deliverables.
Change a request before it's approved
While your request is Pending, click Edit in the banner at the top. The request form opens with your details. Make your changes and save.
If a manager asked for changes, click Edit & Resubmit, update the request and click Resubmit for Approval. To withdraw the request instead, click Cancel Request.
Change a task after it's approved
- Click the pencil next to the title (Edit task fields (requires approval)).
- Change what you need: the title, description, priority, type, due date, hours, assignees or subtasks.
- Click Submit for Approval.
- In the Request Edit window, add a reason if you like, and click Submit Request.
The task keeps its current values until an approver accepts the change. If your workspace doesn't require approval for task edits, the change applies straight away. To drop your changes, click Cancel instead.
Managers see the pencil as Edit task. Their changes apply straight away.
