Comments, @mentions and attachments

This article shows you how to talk about a task in its comments, mention a teammate so they're notified, and attach files or Google Drive links.

Add a comment

  1. Open the task and scroll down to Comments.
  2. Type your message in the Add a comment... box.
  3. Press Enter, or click the send button (Post comment). To start a new line without posting, press Shift+Enter.

The person who requested the task and its assignees get a notification when you comment.

Reply, edit or delete

Hover over a comment to see its buttons:

  • Reply starts a reply under that comment.
  • Edit changes your own comment. Edited comments show "(edited)".
  • Delete removes your own comment, after you click Confirm. Managers can delete anyone's comment. A deleted comment shows as "[Comment deleted]".

Viewers and guests can read comments but can't add them.

Mention someone with @

  1. In a comment or reply, type @ and start typing a name.
  2. Pick the person from the list. Use the arrow keys and Enter, or click their name.
  3. Post the comment.

The person you mention gets a "You were mentioned" notification. Depending on their settings, they also get an email or a push notification. They can find it in My Work, on the Inbox tab, using the Mentions filter.

Some people may be missing from the list. People marked as watchers only appear if your workspace has turned on Let watchers be @mentioned.

In a task's description, typing @ links to another task instead of a person.

Attach a file

  1. Open the task and find the Attachments section.
  2. Drag files onto the box, or click click to browse and choose them.
  3. Wait for each upload to finish.

Limits:

  • Each file can be up to 10 MB.
  • A task can hold up to 20 attachments.
  • Programs and scripts (for example .exe, .bat or .js files) can't be uploaded.

You can also add files while creating a task. The Attachments section of the request form keeps them in a queue and uploads them when you submit.

Attach from Google Drive

If your workspace has connected Google Drive:

  1. In the Attachments section, click Google Drive.
  2. In the Browse Google Drive window, open folders or search for the file.
  3. Select one or more files and click Select File (or Select 2 Files, and so on).

TaskFlow saves a link to the Drive file, not a copy. People need access to the file in Google Drive to open it.

If Google Drive isn't connected, TaskFlow tells you so. A manager or admin can connect it from Integrations in the sidebar.

View, download or remove an attachment

  • Click an image to see it full size.
  • Click Download to save a file.
  • Click Delete, then Delete again to confirm. You can remove files you uploaded. Managers can remove any file.

Once a task is completed or cancelled, you can't add or remove attachments.
